BP (NYSE:BP) Tony Hayward Says No to Testifying

While everyone agrees it was a mistake to release the man convicted of bombing Pan Am Flight 103 over Lockerbie, Scotland, the pursuit of BP (NYSE:BP) by desperate Democrats attempting to find any issue to hang their hats on, is getting tiring and despicable.

BP CEO Tony Hayward, who will be stepping down soon, has rightly refused to testify before U.S. Senators on the matter.

British and Scottish leaders have already cleared BP in the matter, and said there was no specific request by BP to have bomber Abdel Baset al-Megrahi in exchange for oil contracts.

Hayward said, "BP has nothing to add to these clear, unequivocal statements."

It has been public knowledge for years that BP and the British government supported a prisoner exchange in relationship to oil exploration contracts, but that had nothing to do directly with al-Megrahi, as far as having a specific request made for his release. It was a general deal, according to the British.

Democrats Trying to Change BP (NYSE:BP) Oil Spill Report

Democrats, led by Massachusetts Senator Ed Markey, are attempting to change the narrative of the damages associated with the Gulf oil spill by strong-arming National Oceanographic Administration scientist Bill Lehr into changing the conclusions of his report that revealed the Gulf of Mexico incurred far less damage than thought, and had in fact cleaned itself up very well, without the help of the U.S. government.

The Gulf of Mexico's healing properties evidently outrages the Democrats, who don't want that politically incorrect body of water contradicting their agenda.

What Markey and the Democrats are going to try to due is get the data from the report from Lehr submitted to peer review, and then put in place those performing the so-called peer review to puppet what they want them to say.

The report accurately depicted the fact that the oil had evaporated and bacteria in the Gulf were flourishing from the increased amount of oil and were eating it very quickly.

Markey, who from past comments in unrelated matters, seems to have deeply rooted psychological problems, harassed and tormented Lehr as he abused his power over his outrage that the report didn't fit into his preconceived notions.

Markey is among those that continue to call the British liars over the alleged connection to the release of the Lockerbie bomber, which everyone in the British government, present and past, have said there is no connection to.

That has also outraged the volatile Markey, who doesn't like to be contradicted when he's creating his fairy tales.

The Democrats and Markey seem to be so obsessed with the good news of the report, that they're not going to stop until they get someone, somewhere to say the oil is still devastating the Gulf, and there is far more remaining than the report from Lehr states.

BP (NYSE:BP) Launching Libyan Drilling by October

After some delays, BP (NYSE:BP) will start to drill off the coast of Libya at the latest by October, according to the leading oil official in Libya - Shokri Ghanem.

Ghanem, who is chairman of Libya's National Oil Corp., said this, "They are delaying because of technical problems. They want to be assured that all the instruments are working well, and they don't want a repeat of Macondo. It may take another two months at most."

Libya has been the center of some controversy for BP, as there was the attempt to connect them to the release of the Lockerbie bomber in exchange for oil business in the country, by some overzealous Democrats.

Democrat Ed Markey wants BP (NYSE:BP) to Blindly Accept Oil Estimate Numbers of Government

With tens of billions on the line, the incompetent Rep. Ed Markey, D-Mass. has again managed to place himself in the media spotlight by writing a letter to BP (NYSE:BP) pressuring them to blindly accept the estimated amount of oil that went into the Gulf of Mexico.

This is the same media whore that attempted to tie the release of the Lockerbie bomber in with BP and the British government, and wouldn't stop even after every party involved said there was no connection.

Him and three other of his Democrat colleagues looked the fools, and Markey want to the outrageous length of saying it was "blood money," as far as doing deals with Libya.

What Markey didn't bother checking was the United States had far more deals with Libya than the British did.

Here's what the totalitarian Markey says now concerning the government numbers of oil spilled from the Gulf in a press release:

"BP acceptance of a flow rate number is fundamental to its claim that it 'is doing everything it can to make this right' for the families and businesses of the Gulf. Low-balling or litigating the flow rate estimate would be just one more insult to the people of the Gulf."

No it wouldn't Markey, it's what a free people and free nation are allowed to do.

This is an attempt to control the responses and reactions of BP in what appears to be an outright brutish manner. To say its an insult to people in the Gulf to disagree with Government figures on the oil spill isn't low-balling, but just doing what any company or organization should perform: due diligence.

This Markey needs to be pressured to step down after the outrageous accusations against the British and now attempting to force BP to accept Government figures, which are very suspect, at best.

Evidently what Markey doesn't like is the government being questioned and accountable itself.

The truth is from the beginning I've felt the government figures were far too high, and evidently BP does as well. There's absolutely nothing wrong with BP challenging them if that's what they choose to do.

But Markey is obviously on his own political mission, as using the press release speak to itself in delivering this message.

Making outrageous and idiotic statements is his choice of weapon to remain in the public eye. But now he's beginning to look so totalitarian and stupid, it would be best for him to slither away and hide under a rock than to continue his media outbursts.

Democrats Continue Sham Attack on BP (NYSE:BP) Over Lockerbie

Democrats are scrambling to keep the attention off of their dismal record since they took control of the country, and continue to pursue BP (NYSY:BP) over the so-called issue concerning Scotland's release of the Lockerbie bomber.

Every single lawmaker in Britain has already said there is absolutely no connection between BP and the release of Abdelbaset Ali Mohmet al-Megrahi, who was believed to have only three months to live at the time because of cancer.

Democratic Senator Robert Menendez has resumed the faux whining about the circumstance, with Democrats evidently angry over it not taking hold in the minds of the American public, who, for the most part, don't believe BP had anything to do with it.

Now the Democrats look like Chicago thugs rather than statesmen, as they went so far as to call the non-existent event one of "blood money," causing an even bigger rift in relations with one of our strongest historical allies, Britain.

Menendez has now invoked the name of Tony Hayward in an attempt to revive the issue, knowing how deeply angry the public is with him, and that he can get away with bashing him, this time about not showing up for the media show which had meant to be created to make Democrats look tough for their base.

The attempt to create a circus in order to probe the lame duck CEO of BP backfired on them, as they've had to reschedule it for September, even though it's highly unlikely Hayward will attend.

The September date was mentioned because of the elections to come soon afterwards, which the Democrats would use the highly emotional issue to attempt to draw votes in an election where they are expected to get crushed in.

Too bad Democrats don't mind destroying relationships with allies of the American people in order to garner a few votes.

BP (NYSE:BP) Ready to Launch Libya Offshore Drilling

In deal three years in the making, BP (NYSE:BP) is poised to launch its drilling program into Libyan offshore waters, in a well that will be deeper than the Macondo field well, which has been leaking oil into the Gulf of Mexico until a second containment cap stopped the spill from continuing to enter the waters.

The Libya deepwater drilling will be in the Gulf of Sirte, and is set to start in the next several weeks.

BP spokesman David Nicholas said to AFP news on Saturday: "We expect to begin the first well in the next few weeks," also saying it "can take six months or more to drill."

Concerning the outrageous accusations by Democrats in America that BP and/or the British government had released the Lockerbie bomber in order to secure the oil contracts, UK Foreign Secretary William Hague said this, "There is no evidence that corroborates in any way the allegation of BP's involvement in the Scottish Executive's entirely separate decision to release him on compassionate grounds."

According to Scottish Justice Secretary Kenny MacAskill, all the material related to the incident is in the public domain, and nothing is left to be relieved, other than the communication between the governments of the US and the UK over the matter. That can only be released if given permission from the United States.

Every politician asked in Britain has said there is no connection between BP and the Lockerbie bomber release, and the accusation and showcase hearings meant to distract the American people away from the horrid performance of the Democrats is ridiculous and needs to be stopped.

It underscores the desperate plight of the Democrats who have rejected the will of the American people and forced through unwanted legislation, along with uncontrolled spending, which generations of Americans will have to pay back.

To risk solid relations with the UK in order to protect themselves, well, from themselves, is the ultimate in reckless behavior.

Scotland Confirms No BP (NYSE:BP), Lockerbie Connection, Democrats Ready to Apologize?

Scottish Government First Minister Alex Salmond reiterated in a letter to Democrats and John Kerry that BP (NYSE:BP) had no role in pushing for the release of Lockerbie bomber Abdel Baset al-Megrahi.

Outrageous assertions by Democrats saying BP and the British had participated in a "blood money" deal for al-Megrahi now needs to be apologized for, as the accusations in reality demand a censure from the four Democrats, including Chuck Schumer, who made the allegations.

Salmond said this, "I can say unequivocally that the Scottish Government has never, at any point, received any representations from BP in relation to Al-Megrahi. That is to say we had no submissions or lobbying of any kind from BP, either oral or written, and, to my knowledge, the subject of Al-Megrahi was never raised by any BP representative to any Scottish Government Minister."

It has long been known that BP had pushed for unrelated prisoner exchanges with Libya (which they didn't initiate) in order to secure business deals. That was a couple of years before the al-Megrahi.

Democrats, whose popularity is waning, and are going to get a spanking in the mid-term elections, have been desperate to draw attention away from their abysmal performance and the unprecedented debt incurred while they've been shortly in power.

But to accuse BP and the British government of doing "blood money" deals goes far beyond politics to being despicable behavior. Some of these Democrats should be pressured to step down in light of the lies they've publicly thrown out.

Cameron Defends BP (NYSE:BP) in Lockerbie Assertion

The attempt by Democrats to make it look like the lobbying of Libya by BP (NYSE:BP) is a new story, seems to imply how desperate they are to change the narrative so voters in the United States forget the destruction they've caused to the country since they've been in power.

BP has already stated, as has been known since 2007, that they were involved in encouraging an unrelated prisoner exchange to be done quicker between Britain and Libya in order to get important business in Libya.

Considering the United States has over 50 businesses doing deals in Libya, it makes the Democrats look hypocritical in they eyes of those viewing their antics.

As far as the release of Abdel Basset al-Megrahi, who had been released by the Scottish government after being sentenced to life for the bombing of a Pan Am flight in 1988 over Lockerbie, Scotland, BP and Britain has stated more than once they weren't involved in any way with that situation.

British Prime Minister David Cameron, said this on National Public Radio concerning the allegations by Democrats:

"... let's be clear about who released al-Megrahi; it was a government decision in the UK. It was the wrong decision. It wasn't the decision of BP. It was the decision of Scottish ministers."

How much clearer can it be said than that? Now the Democrats need to issue a public apology for falsely accusing BP, and implying British politicians are lying.

Democrats Accused of Hypocrisy in Alleged BP (NYSE:BP) Libya Links

Democrats thought they had found something to divert the attention of Americans from their dismal and pathetic performance since Obama was voted into office, but their attempt to paint BP (NYSE:BP) as a company selling out for 'blood money' could come back in haunt them, as digging into energy business in Libya has found that over 50 American companies are doing business there, while only four British ones are.

Fadel Gheit, a senior analyst at Oppenheimer & Co, said: "Since Libya was opened up to foreign investment in 2005, American companies have had the lion's share of contracts and the biggest representation in the country.
'There are 50 energy companies in the U.S. compared to four in the UK and all have been involved in Libya."

The Daily Mail added, "Experts said pursuing such an agenda while criticising British companies that do the same thing shows America wants to 'have its cake and eat it.' Exxon, the world's largest oil company, has set up a special subsidiary, Exxon Mobil Libya Ltd, to keeping business running smoothly."

The Democrats, Hillary Clinton and Obama are looking inept and clueless as it appears the four Democrats which made the outrageous accusations have no idea of the deep business entanglements American energy companies have with Libya, and that all happened after Gaddafi paid £1.2billion to settle all claims related to the attack.

Does that mean America is even more responsible for receiving 'blood money' as the Democrat senators assert?

Desperate Democrats Continue BP, Lockerbie Connection Assertion

With the Democrats about to get hammered in November elections, the creation of the BP, Lockerbie boogeyman reveals the lengths they'll go to keep power, even if it accuses one of their top allies as being involved with "blood money" from Libya.

The blood money comment was made by Democrat Senator Chuck Schumer, who should probably be forced to step down once the reality sets in that there is no connection.

All reports point to their being no connection so far, and unless every person being questioned is lying, that's where it'll end up.

Another element involved here, is it has been known for a long time that BP had made overtures toward the British government to press things forward concerning Libya, and to try to make it look like that was just discovered is an outright fabrication.

What is new is the attempt make it look like BP had a role in pressuring the release of the so-called Lockerbie bomber in return for business deals. So far that has been completely refuted by everyone involved. The involvement of BP was in unrelated issues.

What is this all about then? Gerald Warner, writing for the Telegraph, rightly noted this:
"Four Democrat senators are demanding an investigation into whether BP played any role in the release of Megrahi. If the slightest evidence to that effect surfaces, BP is toast. The Obama administration will take it out. That would make Obama look strong again, it would provide a useful distraction from his other failures...."

That's what it's all about: Politics. Obama is possibly the most ineffective and arrogant president in the history of the United States, and he's basically a lame duck less than two years into his presidency. To take the attention off of himself and place it on BP, Britain, and the emotional Lockerbie situation would be a coup if any shred of dubious evidence is put forth; something that surrounded the original case as it was.

This also reveals the poor character of the Democrats, who in grasping at straws are willing to cause deep and long-term harm with an ally in order to keep their positions for another term.

The anemic Obama, and Democrats, are trying to find anything to make them look strong, and this is one of the last things they can do before mid-term elections.

I think this will backfire as the American people get an even deeper glimpse into the depth they'll go to retain power.

BP (NYSE:BP) Denies Role in Lockerbie Prisoner Release

Although BP (NYSE:BP) admits they had a role in lobbying for a quicker release of Libyan prisoners unrelated to the Lockerbie bomber case, which is a matter of public record and nothing new, they continue to deny any role in the release Lockerbie bomber Abdel Basset al Megrahi.

Democrats have accused members of the British government of lying about it, along with BP, which has led to the public statement.

BP said in a statement: “It is matter of public record that in late 2007 BP told the U.K. Government that we were concerned about the slow progress that was being made in concluding a Prisoner Transfer Agreement with Libya.

“We were aware that this could have a negative impact on U.K. commercial interests, including the ratification by the Libyan Government of BP's exploration agreement."

The oil giant went on to say they won't comment on the decision by the Scottish Government to release al Megrahi on medical conditions.

Democrat Senators Call British Liars in Alleged BP (NYSE:BP) Link to Lockerbie

In a feverish attempt to seem relevant, after going against the will of the vast majority of the American people, Democrat senators have basically called the British liars in relationship to the release of the only convicted man in the 1988 Lockerbie airline bombing.

These four clowns are saying the British government caved and allowed BP (NYSE:BP) to persuade them to allow the release in return for oil drilling contracts in Libya.

The four Democratic Senators are, Charles Schumer and Kirsten Gillibrand of New York, and Frank Lautenberg and Robert Menendez of New Jersey.

According to British Ambassador to the United States Nigel Sheinwald, the decision was based solely on compassionate grounds, and the Scotish Executive made the decision only on the medical information made available to them, which showed al-Megrahi had only several months to live at most, and had prostrate cancer.

Gordon Brown, the former British Prime Minister, also denied the accusation by the four Democrats, saying there were no deals struck behind closed doors in relationship to BP, the prisoner or Libya.

The only contradiction to the British account is from former British Justice Secretary Jack Straw, who spoke to the The Daily Telegraph newspaper in September, where he alleged the Libyan agreement with BP was part of the talks to release the prisoner.

Even so, the four Democrats admit the so-called evidence is at best circumstantial.

Still, Senator Lautenberg essentially accused the British of lying, saying it looked like BP persuaded British officials to "hold their noses" and make a deal with Libya.

In the midst of tenuous relationship with Britain after the Obama administration talked about putting their foot on the neck of BP, this is another event which is sure to widen the gap in the relationship, as the clueless Democrats look foolish, arrogant, and outrageous in their accusations against the British government, BP, and the Scotish Executive.

The four Democrats grandstanded at a press conference in their faux outrage over the unproven and unsubstantiated assertions against Britain and BP.

To take the American anger with BP concerning the Gulf oil spill and attach these unproven allegations to them, and the British, is the height of irresponsibility, and these four senators need to be censured and investigated themselves.
