Mag Silver Corp. (AMEX:MVG) Silver Wheaton Corp. (NYSE:SLW), Pan American Silver Corp. (Nasdaq:PAAS) all soared Thursday on the news the Federal Reserve was going to inflate in a big way again, driving up the broader commodity market, along with individual companies within each sector.

Mag Silver closed at $9.67 Thursday, rising $0.24, or 2.54 percent. Silver Wheaton surged to close at $32.20, gaining $2.59, or 8.75 percent. Pan American was up $34.51 at the end of the day, increasing by $2.06, or 6.35 percent.

Hecla (NYSE:HL), Silver Wheaton (NYSE:SLW) Lead Silver Stocks Higher
While some silver stocks like Silver Wheaton (NYSE:SLW) and Hecla (NYSE:HL) exploded on Friday, making them among the market leaders, it was amazing to see how the silver miners, and companies like Silver Wheaton performed almost in unison with gold miners.
Just like the gold miners, you had those who started the week with the prices plummeting, and then finished up on Friday strong.
There were those who ended up positive after the relatively level Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday, only to not reach where they started the week at, and there were those who were able to hang on, like Hecla, who ended the week in the positive even after the poor four days before it.
This tells me of the ongoing price support silver and gold have, and that it isn't going to go away any time soon, and silver companies and silver miners will be a great investment for those having a stake in them.
Others ending Friday up were Pan American Silver (Nasdaq:PAAS) and Silver Standard Resources (Nasdaq:SSRI).

Pan American Silver (NASDAQ:PAAS) Bolivian Mine to Increase Production
Pan American Silver (TSE:PAA) (NASDAQ:PAAS) said they estimate their San Vicente mine in Bolivia will increase production in 2010 by 2 percent, increase about three times what it generated in 2009.
After a new processing plant was built, it helped the miner to increase production in 2009 to about 2.5 million ounces of silver, a big increase over the 875,000 produced in 2008.
Vice President for Geology and Exploration at Pan American, Michael Steinmann, said the goal is to bring silver production to from 3 million ounces to 3.2 million ounces, and once that's achieved, they'll keep it level there.
Also operating mines in Mexico, Peru and Argentina, their Argentina Navidad project will have $40 million injected into it for pre-feasibility and feasibility studies, which Steinmann said could bring Pan American into the upper echelon of silver producers, if the expected potential there is as high as expected.

Pan American Silver (Nasdaq:PAAS) Breaking Out?
With silver prices seemingly about to take off, Pan American Silver (Nasdaq:PAAS) could be one of the best deals among silver mining companies, as the price of silver has found support and when silver prices have been strong in the past, Pan American has soared to over $40 a share.
The company seems to have positioned itself nicely for a long run if it comes, and last quarter their performance shined, and they and their shareholders are probably about to be rewarded for it.
For example, silver production for the quarter increased by 13 percent to 5.5 million ounces, while gold production rose by 34 percent. What was most impressive to me though was the way the company cut the cash costs to $4.35 an ounce, leaving them terrific margins and earnings potential.
Even though the share price has been moving up, Pan American Silver is still a bargain, and they have a lot of room to grow before their value is reflected in the share price.

GlobalX Silver Miners ETF (NYSEArca:SIL) Launches
Last week GlobalX Funds launched the GlobalX Silver Miners ETF (NYSEArca:SIL), becoming the only ETF in the world tracking silver companies at this time.
I would have said the only ETF tracking silver miners, but since Silver Wheaton (NYSE:SLW) is one of its major holdings, that wouldn't have been completely accurate, although for the most part it is silver mining companies the new ETF tracks.
Along with Silver Wheaton there are 24 other stocks GlobalX Silver Miners ETF tracks, with the other three major ones being Pan American Silver (Nasdaq:PAAS), Mexican miner Industrias Penoles and Fresnillo, another Mexican-based silver mining company.
Together these four account for just under 50 percent of the ETF.
GlobalX Silver Miners ETF has an expense ratio of 0.65 percent.

Pan American Silver (TSE:PAA) Strike Ends
Pan American Silver Peru Strike Over
After a strike by over one thousand workers at its Huaron silver mine in Peru started on April 10, Pan American Silver (TSE:PAA) had to decide whether to battle the workers or give in to their demands. That has been decided now as the strike has ended.
At issue in the strike was the amount of money paid out in the profit-sharing payment. The workers felt it was less than agreed to, and got more money for their trouble, whether it was true or not.
Pan American said originally that the strike was illegal, which means they must have believed the payment they made to the workers was in line with the contract.
Either way, they decided to pay out what was identified as a special payment of $180 per worker, which sounds like it was a shakedown rather than breaking profit-sharing agreement.
The 'special payment' is coming from a payment from an unidentified third party.

Silver Wheaton (TSE:SLW) Converts Debenture with Pan American Silver (TSE:PAA)
Silver Wheaton Debenture with Pan American Silver
Silver Wheaton Corp. (TSE:SLW) announced after the close of the markets that they will convert its debenture with Pan American Silver Corp. (TSE:PAA) in order to acquire a 12.5 percent stake in the Navidad mining project based in Argentina.
Pan American held the debenture because of its acquisition of Aquiline Resources, who was the former owner of the Navidad mining project.
Specifics of the deal are Pan American will receive $32.4 million in an upfront payment from Silver Wheaton, in return they will be able to acquire silver at either $4 or what the particular market price silver is at at the time it is delivered; whichever is lower.
The actual upfront of $32.4 million will be made in payments rather than at the actual close of the deal.

Pan American Silver (Nasdaq: PAAS) Gets No Respect
Pan American Silver
The management at Pan American Silver (Nasdaq: PAAS) seem to be quietly building a solid company while most investors in silver and other precious metals look elsewhere for their profits. That, I think, is a mistake.
When talking about increasing their silver production by 31 percent in the third quarter, while generating 6.4 million ounces of silver - a record - they are more than poised to perform strongly for years ahead, and that doesn't even include the acquisition of Aquiline Resources Inc., which has an estimated 632 million ounces of silver in its Navidad project in Argentina.
For all of 2009 the company produced 23 million ounces of silver at a reported $5.53 an ounce; a very good number.
But Pan American Silver isn't only into silver, as its gold production skyrocketed in 2009 by 331 percent.
The best part though, is even with their increased production and available resources, they are being managed well with cost being shaved significantly during the year.
With these facts and other numbers showing a company growing and expanding, while maintaining its handle on costs, and you have all the pieces for a great investment.
For some reason many people simply miss this with Pan American, and that's to their detriment over the long haul.

Pan American Silver (TSE:PAA) Posts Profits
Pan American Silver Quarterly Report
After a disappointing fourth quarter last year, Pan American Silver (TSE:PAA) came roaring back to post a profit in the fourth quarter ending December 31.
The factors contributing to the profits according to Pan American Silver was increased production and the increase in the price of silver.
Earnings for the quarter came in at $27.8 million, or 31 cents a share. That was in comparison to the same quarter last year where the mining company lost $33.3 million or 41 cents a share.
Overall revenue grew to $154.4 million, a 234 percent gain. Production during that time resulted in another 6 million ounces of silver, a 30 percent surge. A portion of that was attributed to the expansion of the San Vicente mine in Bolivia.
Gold also enjoyed increased production, as it gained by 425 percent.
The company estimated that silver production should reach 23.4 million ounces for 2010.

Pan American Silver Corp. Silver Reserves
Pan American Silver Corp. (NASDAQ:PAAS) (TSX:PAA) announced in a press release that they increased their silver reserves by 36.8 million contained ounces, which the company said was more than sufficient to replace the 26.6 million contained ounces mined last year.
As of the quarter ending December 31, 2009, probable silver reserves increased by about 5 percent to 234 million ounces. These are reserves measured at their operating mines.
The best producing mine for 2009 for increasing the reserves was the La Colorada mine, with over 16 million ounces found when they extended the NC2 Vein.
Pan American Silver added they will continue to focus drilling on that vein throughout 2010.

Pan American Silver to Raise Up to $103.5 Million
Pan American Silver Corp. has plans to offer a public offering which will initially raise about $90 million. There will also be an option for underwriters to acquire a second round of stock which would be valued at about $13.5 million, making the total raised for the silver company $103.5 million.
With the U.S. dollar ready to collapse, and places of safety for investors diminishing, precious metals companies, especially those primarily producing gold and silver are taking a number of steps to bolster their balance sheets in order to look good to investors.
Silver could be the biggest performer for investors this year, even out shining gold as far as percentages go. There are very few places to put your money safely, and silver and gold will be two of the best in 2009, and Pan American Silver knows it, and is making this move for the stated purpose of expanding and making additional acquisitions to strengthen its market position.
So far in 2009, silver is the second-best commodity as far as performance goes of the 19 listed on the Reuters/Jefferies CRB Index, which has helped Pan America Silver increase its revenue, giving it even more to work with going ahead.
In 2008, Pan American Silver produced around 18.7 million ounces of silver across its eight mines, all located in South America - in the countries of Peru, Argentina, Bolivia and Mexico. Pan American Silver Corp. has gained a healthy 40 percent over the last three months in its share price, and has a lot of room to grow even more.
Concerning the public offering, Pan American Silver has filed with the SEC in relationship to the public offering, and also has filed a preliminary prospectus supplement to its existing base shelf prospectus with the securities regulatory authorities in every one of the territories and provinces of Canada.
Managing the issuance of shares are CIBC World Markets Inc. and Goldman Sachs Canada Inc., whom will act as co-leads as well as joint book runners for the offering.
After their successful last several months, the market value of the company has risen to USD $1.47 billion.
