BP (NYSE:BP) Defended by Bloomberg

New York Mayor Michael Bloomberg has come to the defense of BP (NYSY:BP), saying the U.S. and the world shouldn't be so quick to point fingers at the oil giant in regard to the Gulf of Mexico oil spill.

Bloomberg notes that it's better for the company to be focusing on putting a stop to the leak rather than putting together a legal team to defend the company.

On his weekly radio show, Bloomberg said, "The guy that runs BP didn't exactly go down there and blow up the well. And what's more, if we want them to fix it and they're the only ones with the expertise, I think I might wait to assign blame."

Bloomberg also stated that America has become a country that overemphasizes finding someone to blame for things.

He said, "Unfortunately it's not any one person or one party or one branch of government" that tries to find someone to attack. "There's got to be somebody that's culpable in everything — c'mon!"
