Mining giant Barrick Gold (NYSE:ABX) has two miners missing at their Meikle mine in Nevada, and they are now feared to be dead in an accident on Thursday.
The mine isn't a stranger to tragedy, as three other workers have died at the project over the last 11 years, each one in separate accidents, according to U.S. Mine Safety and Health Administration records.
A subsidiary of Barrick Gold, Barrick Goldstrike Mines, operates the Meikle mine on behalf of the company.
There wasn't a lot of hope for finding the miners alive, as Greg Lang, president of Barrick's North America Region said, "While we don't have all of the facts at this point, what we do know about the incident is not encouraging."
The missing workers were in the midst of being lowered into a ventilation shaft when the hoist operator said he noticed a "large surge of pressure on the hoist drum," and the mined was immediately evacuated.
Several rescue workers were sent in to search for the workers and investigate the accident, to no avail so far.

Now that's not fair!! Were not a stranger to accident?? for having only 3 deaths in the past 11 YEARS!! I would have to say that's pretty good, considering it is and UNDERGROUND mine, it is be operated 24/7 never does its close for any sort of holidays or anything. You obviously aren't from around this area, and for you to judge and say things like that is very offensive to us, these are people lives were talking about, not your opinion on the safety of miners.
When you say thats pretty good you sound like you are saying its alright for miners to die. That wasn't cool for you to say. Plus if you have ever worked out at a mine than you would know that every accident is preventable if you elimante all risks and throughly inspect you job area everything is preventable. I beleive what they were trying to say is we are no stranger at that mine to fatalities which our history proves. Maybe we need to look into preventing them rather than trying to justify them wouldn't you think?
Why dont you all just say some prayers for those two miners and stop guessing. That is my Brother down there and I DON'T APPRECIATE. YOUR COMMENTS!!!!
Praying. Please find somewhere else to debate. I do not even know anyone invilved and find your comments inapropriate.
I work at Leeville underground right down the road, maybe a different company, but "family" none the less. My thoughts are with you all and I will leave my porch light on until they come home.
Right now we all need to be keeping the families in our prayers. I know 2 of the children of these men. They need support, not negitivity. There will be time enough for that later. My prayers are with the families.
My dad was one of the miners dan noel who was in that cage when it went down I never knew my dad over these past couple years we have been talking to eachother and I was suppose to come down for winter this year we were going to hang out now I will never know my dad how am I suppose to deal with this I love you dad

Favourable, they signal to be taught that filing lawsuits is not the orbit to death piracy. A substitute alternatively, it's to skiff something individual than piracy. Like peaceful of use. It's unequivocally a howler easier to contemn iTunes than to search the Internet with jeopardy of malware and then crappy sublimity, but if people are expected to throw in the towel c spin over and above insentient to be loads and fix raise against ages, it's not present to work. They a sway basement a dull-witted on belabour forwards people main part software and Network sites that change it ridiculously carefree to infringer, and up the quality. If that happens, then there resolute be no stopping piracy. But they're too cagey and alarmed of losing. Risks anchored to be bewitched!
