BP (NYSE:BP) Sending Partners Oil Bill

In what ultimately could lead to lawsuits, BP (NYSE:BP) said today they have a right to seek what they're calling "contributions" for any claims the company has to pay out for the Gulf oil spill, from the oil company partners connected to the Deepwater Horizon oil rig.

It's already somewhat surprising the amount BP has been willing to pay out, as the reason for the explosion has yet to be determined, although documents and e-mails do show the giant oil company may have bypassed measures in order to hurry things up.

This should bring an interesting response from other companies like Transocean (NYSE:RIG), Halliburton (NYSE:HAL) and Anadarko (NYSE:APC), all of who have a stake in the rig in one form or another.

No matter how it works out, the market at this time views BP as the key company to pay out by far the most in liability, and whatever these other companies pay out is probably already priced into their shares, the reason they seem to be starting to rebound.
