BP (NYSE:BP) Captures Record 25,830 Barrels of Oil

The combination of two oil-capture systems resulted in a record capture of oil for BP (NYSE:BP), either collecting or burning 25,830 barrels of oil on Monday.

One system brings the oil to a vessel which resells the oil, the other ends on a ship which flares or burns the oil off.

Total estimated daily capacity for the two systems is 28,000 barrels a day, which they're close to reaching, as revealed by the numbers.

Helix Q4000, the second system to be installed, has no capability to process or store oil, the reason it burn the oil and gas it collects. This system is already running on full capacity, while the first system, which collected 15,560 barrels on Monday, is approaching capacity.

Estimates of up to 60,000 barrels a oil day may be entering the Gulf of Mexico.
