The buyout unit of Goldman Sachs (NYSE:GS) has acquired a minority stake in Level Global Investors LP.

Level Global Investors LP is a hedge fund set up to make best on the movement of stock prices worldwide.

Goldman Sachs' Petershill Fund Offshore LP unit will have no investment decision-making role in the $4 billion Level Global Fund.

The Petershill Fund Offshore LP was set up for the purpose of making deals exactly like this one, where they acquire a minority stake in hedge funds.
