Alcoa (NYSE:AA) will release its quarterly results Monday, and the consensus among analysts is they should improve strongly over their performance in the same quarter last year, which the lost 59 cents a share.

This time around Alcoa is expected report earnings of 11 cents a share, according to those surveyed by Thomson Reuters, although others have lowered their estimates to less than half of that.

Either way, it is a good sign, and most of this is related to increased aluminum prices and lower costs of doing business.
