BP (NYSE:BP) gas station owners are breathing a sigh of relief as the reputation of the company is improving in the U.S., and sales at the stations are improving with it.
In some parts of the country people boycotted the BP gas stations, even though the only connection with BP from the independent owners was they acquired gas from them.
Even in the Gulf region, where consumers had abandoned the BP stations at a rate as high as 50 percent (in sales), they are now coming back close to levels before the oil spill happened.
As far as the rest of the United States, there is some stations experiencing a little less sales, but they're almost all back to numbers that are normal for their businesses.
While BP is still under suspicion by the majority of Americans, they're brand has vastly improved now that the oil spill has been contained and the damage far less than originally feared.

They're there in their house. Learn it, love it.
nice stupid comment above :)
Companys like Transocean are sealing their own grave. No one likes a finger pointer and while this means Billions of dollars. Transocean needs to suck it up and pay the price. As they and the other biggot companies try to cop out of any blame.
Wouldn't it be nice to beable to open a business, reep all the rewards without any risk or responsbilities? Makes me sad to see American companies don't want to pitch in to help with the cleanup. Yet a foreign intentity is bending over backwards to accomadate everyone. It'll take years for them to recoop the money from the American markets with only 25% of its income from US expeditions.
Its funny no one likes a bad guy or big oil money. But people do not like cop outs, folks playing the blame game like Transocean much less.
BP reputation is torn to pieces with each day gone poor management and bad news is disrupting the company and putting it more and more in position of bankruptcy. only good thing about BP is that their stock price is plummeting faster than their reputation..
BP is still my hot share pick of the year so far. BP will not go bankrupt. BP will drop a little more in price in the next few weeks, but after that bounce back up to 500 on the UK market.
I love BP
Wait until next quarter earnings. I can already hear people complaining about how much money BP made. The leaches in the Southern States will be waiting for more handouts.
